The month of July has come and gone and I've finally had a chance to crack open my LootAnime box! This month, the theme is [RISE UP] -- which I'm assuming refers to our heroes fighting adversity and overcoming insurmountable challenges.
This month, the crate is packed with goods from Gurren Lagaan, Evangelion, Knights of Sidonia, Blame! and Voltron! While I'm only familiar with half of these series, that's OK! It looks like Lootcrate ended their collabration with Crunchyroll and is now including Netflix exclusive series like Voltron -- which is pretty exciting! The streaming anime landscape is quickly shifting and with quality new stuff on services like Amazon's Anime Strike, there are so many choices!
Let's take a look at what's inside:
First up is this neat (and quite tall) phone stand. It's made of 2 pieces of acrylic that you slide together and tilt it back to stand. One side is the mecha from the series and the other is the title. With a phone on it, it'll stand up nicely, but just be careful of tipping -- it's kinda top heavy.
It's been years since the original Voltron and it was high time for a reboot and Dreamworks have done the series justice! Voltron is back and better than ever - fantastic character designs and updated Lion mecha and an engaging story. Can't wait for the next season! The enamel pin is about 2" and showcases Voltron's head. The neat thing? The "mouth" part shifts up and down slightly to reveal Voltron's eyes. :D Not sure if this was intentional or not, but it's a neat effect. There are also double pins on the back for added stability.
I have not watched Blame! yet -- but the shirt's a nice companion to the Motoko shirt from a couple boxes back! It features the main character, Killy, ready to embark on his next mission.
This was a cute find in the box! There are 2 options - Rei and Asuka. My box came with Asuka, but there was an opportunity to order which ever other from lootcrate starting July 15th. It's a cute addition to any collection - particularly if you're in the the whole tsum-tsum style mini plushies that were all the rage last year! These are a collaboration with Sanrio, so they're doubly cute!
First published in 2009, this is a fantastic re-print of a long out-of-print artbook featuring all the best official Gurren Lagaan artwork. Thanks, Udon Entertainment! Featuring some of the best artists from Gainax, it's a nice hand-held book that'll fit perfectly into anyone's manga library!
This month's charm is of Kitty (instead of Yume!) and designed by Hans Tseng. It's a cute metal charm, the chibi design is reminiscent of Mega Man. :D
This month's poster is by Wil Overton of Advocate Art. It's a super dynamic, action-packed Voltron-like shot of the mascots piloting their huge mecha kitty.

Thanks again to LootCrate for generously sending me this box for review! Do you have any favorites this month? I think the Gurren Lagaan book is a really nice addition to this box - particularly with pieces by Studio TRIGGER stars, Yoh Yoshinari and Sushio.
The next crate is [ACTION COMEDY] which will include hard-hitters like One-Punch Man, Trigun: Badland Rumble, KonoSuba, FLCL and High School DxD. Orders close July 27 at 9pm PST, so get your orders in and don't forget to use code: NEMUNEMU at checkout for $3 off whatever your order may be!
