[Event Report 2024] Mini Con 13

Posted on September 30, 2024

Hi all!

Thanks to all who came to check out Mini Con 13 at the McCully-Moiliili Public Library on Saturday! It's been an extremely busy, eventful summer for both the exhibitors and attendees, so we all appreciate your stopping by!

We simplified our table offerings this year, and drew some mini-shikishi (sign boards) sketches for sale:

Just some fun doodles, similar to my previous Patreon sketchcards.

The library staff and volunteers helped man the silent auction, comic/manga sale, and the anime screening going on in the 1st floor storywell!
Speaking of the storywell~

Another look at the renovated space with our Blue Hawaii comics framing the TV! It looks so great!

Here's all the gang, together! From the back row, clockwise - Hiroshi Mori (came from Japan!), Brady Evans (the artist behind this year's promo poster!), Kevin Sano, Gwen (of Fuzzy's Corner!) and Jon J. Murakami, Hillary (the librarian in charge of the show), and me!

It's September and that means Mini Con is right around the corner! The gang is back together for lucky #13 at the McCully-Moiliili Public Library [map] on September 28th, 9am-2pm!

Join local artists Jon J. Murakami, Kevin Sano, Brady Evans, Hiroshi Mori and myself. We'll be vending in the meeting room while the library will be hosting games, prizes, contests, anime screenings, a silent auction and more! It's a free event and cosplay is encouraged!

A big thanks to Brady for designing this year's poster!
Much thanks to the Friends of the McCully-Moiliili Public Library, Hawaiian Graphics, Savers Moiliili, and Collector Maniacs for their continued support of Mini Con!
This is my only scheduled in-person event for the year! I look forward to seeing you all!

Discover Nikkei interview

Posted on December 21, 2023

Mid-November, my interview with Lee Tonouchi, a local writer/playwright for Discover Nikkei went live!

Discover Nikkei is a site dedicated to tell the stories of Japanese migrants around the world and their descendants. My grandparents & great-grandparents came to Hawaii from different parts of Japan and established roots that still influence me to this day thru family traditions, stories, food and more~

We have a long chat about my beginnings, how I got into art and comics and a little about the start of nemu*nemu and my working relationship with Scott all these years. :D

Read more at the full interview found at the Discover Nikkei site!
