Open the DELICIOUS Box!

I'm back with yet another LootAnime crate review! The [DELICIOUS] box arrived a lot earlier than I anticipated - so this review is actually pretty timely!

I was really looking forward to this crate, covering series from Food Wars, Umaru-chan, and even Sanrio's hit star, Gudetama -- you can't go wrong! Much thanks again to Lootcrate for sending me this fantastic box for review!

Let's take a look inside!

This month's box design is cute! It's crafted to look like a bento box or picnic basket with the condiments and utensils on the upper lid and food in the lower compartment.

gudetama!

1. Gudetama Plush
Gudetama is Sanrio's depressed little egg character. I first encountered him back in 2014 and bought myself a puffy plastic keychain from Harajuku's Kiddyland. He's pulling a bacon blanket over and saying, "it's cold..." Considering how much I love to steal the blankets, it was only appropriate that I get one for myself. :D

Flash-forward a few years, Gudetama is now Sanrio's biggest hit internationally! Recently, Eggs & Things in Hawaii just had a meal collaboration where they had cute sets of food with Gudetama all over.

This little plush is from the "mame puchi series"... which I'm guessing is their take on the tsum tsum toy phenomenon. Just like my little keychain, this guy is a soft furry plush, covered by a slab of Japanese style bacon. He fits right in the palm of your hand, and probably would fit in just as nicely into your tsum tsum collection. :D

2. Naruto ramen bowl
As I mentioned in my previous post, ramen is an important food in the Naruto world. It also makes total sense that the titular character, Uzumaki Naruto is represented in that very bowl as a narutomaki/uzumaki fish cake, which look like little whirlpools in the broth.

A delicious looking ramen already inside!

This bowl reminds me of all those Asian kiddy soup bowls where a design is hidden under the food and you're rewarded with its reveal after eating all your food.
The bowl itself is more decorative than anything - it's not dishwasher nor microwave safe, and it recommends not leaving the bowl in water to soak. So - maybe use it as a dry snack bowl or on your desk to hold knicknacks.

3. Himouto! Umaru-chan I Love Cola! Umaru figure
Umaru-chan was a surprise hit a few seaons back, bringing to light the hidden gluttony some of us "otaku" fans (may or may not!) display in the comforts of our own homes. :3
This one-coin type figure (one coin, usually being y500 in Japan, which is a large coin) is produced by the Good Smile Company, famous for their cute Nendoroid renditions of popular characters. Umaru-chan is no exception~

This looks like a part of a series they created earlier this year, and they singled out her potato chip and cola version for this release. Super cute!

Are you brave enough to wear this?

4. Food Wars! Cosplay Apron
How could you possibly have a crate themed after food, without including one of the most amazing food related series out there today? Shokugeki no Soma/Food Wars literally rewrites the book on "foodporn". The dishes look amazingly delicious - so much so that I've tried a few of the simpler dishes... and couples it with some of the most fan-servicy reaction shots ever - for both men and women.

It's interesting that they've opted to make a cosplay apron of one of the side characters - Satoshi Isshiki... as he wears the cute Kumabear apron, yes... with nothing but a loincloth underneath?? If you do, more power to you!
Unfortunately, the material doesn't make it suitable for cooking with, as it's a thinner, almost shiny, synthetic fabric. In fact, the tag says it's specifically for costume use only, so yeah - use it at your own risk.

5. Sweetness & Lightning #1 variant cover
Sweetness & Lightning just ran last season on Crunchyroll and definitely one of our favorites. It follows on the tails of series like Yotsuba and Flying Witch, families learning things together thru shared experiences with neighbors and strangers.
This particular story follows the trials and tribulations of Kohei Inuzaka and his young daughter Komugi, coping with the loss of his wife. As sad as it all sounds, the story is light-hearted and charming. They befriend the shy and awkward Kotori Iida, one of Kohei's students and together they learn how to cook and enjoy meals together. The manga is equally as charming and definitely worth a read.
In fact, reading this manga and watching this series has taught me a few things on how to improve my own cooking at home. :D

6. LootAnime Delicious Charm
This month's charm is -super- cute! It's actually 2 charms on a single clip - a delicious parfait and a matching metal spoon! This is probably one of my favorite charms thus far~

7. LootAnime Poster
This month's poster is by littlereddo of EAT ART! With a site/shop name like that, they only seem all the more a perfect choice for the DELICIOUS theme!

It's a cute scene of Yume happily indulging in sweets at what looks like a cafe specializing in desserts. The style is a little less "finished" than previous designs and doesn't follow the "comic panel" theme, but it's really charming.

And there you have it! The DELICIOUS crate! I'm pretty impressed with this month's lineup and contents - the items are all pretty imaginative and nice additions to my collections. :D

If you're interested in a crate or two of your own, check out LootCrate and use code NEMUNEMU at checkout for $3 off whatever order you make! Next month's crate theme is still to be announced, but make sure you get your order in before November 27th! I believe you get extra savings with Crunchyroll Premium, so even more benefits for subscribers! ★
